But now many facilities in India have become online.

Similarly, now the facility of deferring toll at toll plazas has also become online. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) started the service of Fastag in the year 2014. After this, toll collection started at toll plazas through Fastag. But many times there is a technical problem in it. Due to which toll is not deducted through Fastag at toll plazas. Now there has been a change in the IT system regarding this.

Changes made in the IT system installed at toll plazas

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) keeps experimenting with new technologies to ensure smooth toll payment process at toll plazas. That is why changes have been made in the IT system and hardware at toll plazas to simplify payment through Fastag. According to the new rules, only the same companies’ equipment can be used at toll plazas.

Only those companies which have experience and have received certification from the Directorate of Standardization Testing and Quality Certification of the Ministry of Electronics and IT can purchase equipment. These equipment include equipment like toll lane controller, toll plaza server, automatic number plate reader, antenna and RFID reader.

Why were the changes made?

For a long time, the National Highway Authority of India was being informed by the passengers that many times the toll is not deducted from the Fastag at the toll plaza. Even though there is sufficient balance in their Fastag. In case the toll is not deducted from the Fastag, the passengers have to get out of the line and then pay the toll manually. This causes them a lot of trouble. The National Highway Authority of India has changed the system keeping this in mind. Along with this, an engineer will also be deployed to check the services in the regional office of the National Highway Authority of India.
